Installation

To download the QInsight installer you need a created and verified account at account.qenex.net. After signing in you will find the installer in the Download section. Save the file locally on your computer and run it — the setup wizard will guide you through the whole installation.

.NET Desktop Runtime

QInsight requires the .NET Desktop Runtime 10 (x64). If it is missing, the installer notifies you and offers to open the download page; there, choose the Windows x64 installer under .NET Desktop Runtime. The plain .NET Runtime or the ASP.NET Core Runtime is not sufficient. The QInsight installation can be completed without it, but the application starts only after the runtime has been installed.

Python (optional)

QInsight can run Python scripts and has an interactive Python console. For that it uses the Python installed on the computer — the QInsight installer does not include it. If you need neither scripts nor the console, you do not have to install Python; QInsight runs without it with no limitations.

If you want to use scripts:

  1. Install the official CPython for Windows from python.org, 64-bit (same as QInsight), version 3.10 to 3.14. Older versions are not supported by QInsight.
  2. In QInsight, enable Options → Preferences → General → Use Python scripts and set Python Dll Path to the python3xx.dll file in the Python installation folder (e.g. C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python313\python313.dll). The Browse button opens a file picker.

Libraries used by your scripts (e.g. numpy, pandas) are installed the usual way with pip into the same Python. How QInsight handles projects that contain scripts while Python is disabled is described in Scripts — Python setup.
